The self-portrait reminds me of some constructivist artworks. Constructivism meets/as pixellation or color banding. The sweater and the strings are the other thing that contextualizes the image in time. I saw something similar in another student's photographs. The strings for me are like the punctum of the image...the thing that jumps out and disturbs the aesthetic of the rest of the image.
